Hyaluronic Acid is a polysaccharide that occurs naturally in the human body. It supports collagen production and maintains elasticity in the body. It is found naturally in the hair, skin, eyes, nerves, and joints.
This is Sodium Hyaluronate, which is a water-soluble, vegetable-derived form of Hyaluronic Acid. This means we can add it to our DIY recipes. It holds up to 1000x its weight in water, making it a highly potent hydrating agent and strong contender against the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
High molecular weight (HMW) creates a light and non-sticky feeling on the skin. It retains water in the most superficial layer of the skin, but does not penetrate any deeper. It enhances the appearance of well-hydrated, dewy skin. Low molecular weight (LMW) does not create a film on the skin and although its hydrating qualities may not be immediately visible on the surface, it instead penetrates to the skin’s deeper layers. To get the full range of benefits, many people use both weights of hyaluronic acid.
Use at 0.5% to 2% in water-based recipes.
Extraction Method: Vegan/bio-fermented vegetable source
Shelf Life: 24 - 36 months when stored properly
Storage: Keep sealed in a cool, dark place. Heat, oxygen, moisture, and light degrade the product.
